Art Description:
This piece captures the spirit of the land—the ground where these wild horses roam at the base of the Estrella Mountains, a place they call home. Inspired by the Year of the Horse, it reflects a sense of freedom, strength, and movement carried through “Where the Mountains Breathe.”
Rooted in the culture of the Akimel O’otham and Pee Posh people of the Gila River Indian Community, the work honors a deep connection to the land, its stories, and the enduring spirit that lives within it.
